'oly sheeet

If I did blog on a regular service then I would apologise but fuck it. So without further ado I bring you ”Marshall” a round up of the Leeds carling weekend, a week late.

Well things couldn’t have got off to a better start really after leaving some booze, food and disposable BBQ on coach then having to pay extortionate fares on the bus from the coach station to get there. But that was only half the miss fortune, once there Chris had a 2 litre bottle of lemonade explode all over him (he was using a knife to cut the tape keeping bottles together), the sausages got burnt after two minutes, fortunately though, my BBQin' skills came in handy and I made Birdseye burgers for all. However I did manage to go out on the Friday and spend £70 on a BBQ and food, the BBQ then got stolen, fortunately it was on the last day when we had finished using it anyway.

The only other bad thing to happen was to Tim who was unfortunate enough to have his tent stolen….then found it again 30 feet away in a neighbouring campsite! This, however, was not just a case of lost it found it. He decided to get angry and even said, though I’m sure not on purpose “You’ve never seen me angry”. Ok so its not exactly a quote but considering the conditions I found it amusing, Then again small things…small minds. Anyway, he decided to express his rage by roaming the campsite at 2 in the morning ripping up other people’s tents, followed by me trying to calm him down. He kicked off on some who had the same tent thinking it was his, needless to stay this guy didn’t hang around and was gone by the time we woke up in the morning.

Any-hoooo. The weekend was ace. Met up with loads of people and had a really good time, didn’t drink to much but smoked a lot of weed so J I’m kind of disappointed that I didn’t see more of the bands but often a lot of the bands I wanted to see where really close together or on at the same time. Also as a group we had to do what others wanted but I still got to see electric six, blink182, the end of placebos set, system of a down, metallica, good charlotte, blur, primal scream, death in Vegas and the cooper temple clause to name but a few. Needless to say a few minor injuries where obtained but not as bad as Tim who’s right leg is bruised and battered. Which sought of brings me to my next point.

During the weekend “X” amount of injuries occurred whilst in the main arena, perhaps most notably those that occurred during System Of A Down and Metallica. And despite there being thousands of people at the festival only a very very small amount where injured. I think the papers said something like 22. 22 out of thousands!! The point was raised about festivals being dangerous but the fact is that if you’re a fan of a band who’s music is heavy like system (who stopped the set when they realised someone was hurt (and the played thankyou by led zep which ricked)) metallica, you expect mosh pits to happen and if you don’t like them or don’t want to be in one then you don’t go near the front and I’ll put money on that the people injured realised there was a chance they could get hurt but wanted to be there. The point I’m trying to illustrate is that the small amount of people hurt where hurt as a result of them being in that situation voluntarily as opposed to the thousands of people who get run over by a car, robbed, INvoluntarily yet they say festivals are dangerous. Meh, I’m just ranting, anyway, topnotch weekend. Ill more than likely do it again next year. Also pictures to follow of skanky toilets.
